The Gathering

The Gathering is a limited-edition black-and-white fine art photograph of birch trees rising from dense woodland near Alexandria, Minnesota.

Made during an early morning walk, the photograph reveals itself slowly. Pale birch trunks emerge from a layered tangle of branches, leaves, and shadow, creating a composition that changes the longer you remain with it. What first appears dense and almost chaotic gradually settles into rhythm, depth, and order.

This is a photograph that depends on scale. Its subtle detail and overlapping forms are meant to be experienced as a physical print, where the eye has time to wander through the scene rather than pass over it quickly.

The Gathering is ultimately a photograph about attention: about slowing down long enough to notice what might otherwise be overlooked.
