Guiding Wake — Minimalist black and white fine art photograph of a band of reeds and a soft, fading wake on still, foggy Lake Carlos in Alexandria, Minnesota by John Magnoski

Quiet Waters

Quiet Waters

Still water, low fog, and the soft line where lake meets sky. These photographs stay with calm surfaces, small islands and passing boats, inviting a slower kind of looking and a little room to rest.

In fog, the far shore disappears. What remains is enough: a low island, a line of trees, still water holding their reflection.

A harbor, a moored boat, a single sail, a lighthouse on its cliff. Then the shore falls away, and what is left is open water, level to the horizon.

I pressed the shutter, the sound resonating in the stillness—an image of perfect tranquility.
